After updating the BIOS of my Asus PRIME Z370-A motherboard from version 2401 to Version 3004 it started to show the error below whenever I performed a “cold” boot.
Please enter setup to recover BIOS setting.
After setting up Intel(R) Optane Memory or the RAID configuration was built.
SATA Mode Selection must be changed to RAID mode to avoid unknown issues.
Press F1 to Run SETUP
I googled for possible solutions:
- changing the CMOS battery did not help
- changing the BIOS storage setting from AHCI to Intel Optane rendered my system unbootable, so I went back to the old setting
After browsing through my BIOS settings I saw that CSM (Compatibility Support Module) in the Advanced mode was enabled. Given my OS is Windows and does not boot from a disk in the M2 slot, I dared to disable CSM.
And that fixed the problem, also making my boot a lot faster.
I do have a M2 SSD module in my M2 slot serving as a non-bootable datadisk.
